BOB COBB GOT INTOUCH WITH ME A WEEK AGO. I WAS THRILLED TO HEAR FROM HIM.GOT IN TOUCH WITH MY OLD BUDDY WAYNE BRALEY IT WAS GREAT 43 YEARS.

Hi! I was reminiscing (a common syndrome) for those who lived in Panama as a kid or young adult and came upon your website. It seems that most of you were stationed at Radio Farfan. I lived there as a Navy Brat (age 11-14). My Father was LTJG Gerard H. Wirth Officer in Charge 1961-1964. The pictures on your homepage were amazing to say the least. The pool shot with the (young lady) sitting on the side of the pool is my Sister Gloria. In the background of the distant pool shot shows the quarters we lived in at the top of the hill. It had steps from the pool to the house (rough living). The picture that shows the apartments as you enter the base brought back a not so special memory. The drainage ditch on the right was where Buba Curtis (4 or 5 years old) drowned during one of the heavy rains that filled the ditches. The B&W picture titled (Frank & Beannie) was also interesting, if memory serves... that was the mini-club. The bartender also looked familar, yes, I was too young to partake
I was stationed at Farfan from Jan 19054 to Jan 1956, I left to go aboard the USS Siboney CVE-112 as RM1. I would like to hear from anyone from that period.
Sorry for the cut-off, just a little bit more.. I had relatives all over the CZ as my grandfather (mother's side of the family) came down from Pittsburgh, PA in 1914 to help finish the interior of the Administration Building and liked it so much that he stayed and brought his family down in about 1917. My grandparents & great-grandmother are buried in Corozal Cemetery. Bye. Kaye
Well, I'm not a part of your group - preceded you by quite a few years. However, some of your pictures bring back some memories! I lived in Farfan in 1948-50 and would be interested in seeing your photos of your time there in 65-66. I'm sure many things changed but would like to see if anything was familiar. I was there when I was 6-8 years old, while my dad (a Chief Radioman) was stationed there. Remember living in a top floor apt. in one of the 4-apt. buildings built on concrete pillars (as many of the buildings were built) with a jungle up the hill behind us. My mother's address list indicated it was Qtrs 3D. It was very near a swimming pool down the hill from the barracks. My sister nearly drowned in the pool because there was no fence around it at the time. If someone hadn't seen her from the barracks & run down to the pool, she wouldn't still be with us today!. I had relatives all over the CZ as my grandfather (mother's side of the family) came down from Pittsburgh, PA in
